REQUEST FORM

WHAT TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO

  • A completed liability waiver is required from each student before taking a class (only needed once per student).
  • Bring your own mat.
  • Bring a large bottle of water and a sweat towel.
  • Props are currently not provided, so bring any supplementary props you would like to use (i.e., woven blanket for knee support, blocks, etc.).
  • Walk-ins are accepted if space is available, but you are encouraged to sign up online before class to reserve your spot.
  • We offer a 'pay what you can' pricing model. The preset price for each class is $15, but students have the option to pay less than this amount during online checkout or in-person. There is a $2 minimum in online checkout, but you may take the class for free in-person (if the class has spots remaining).

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Do I need to have practiced yoga before to take a class?

Nope! Anyone new to yoga can join classes listed as All Levels or Yoga for Total Beginners. Options will be provided so you can choose the right variations for your body on that particular day (keep in mind that regardless of your experience, the posture variations you choose can vary day-to-day!).

What should I bring?

Bring a yoga mat, large bottle of water, sweat towel, and any supplementary props you'd like to use (woven blanket/towel for knee support, blocks, or a yoga strap).

What style of yoga does Julie teach?

Julie was trained under Kunga Yoga, which is an open style of mind/body yoga with a focus on service (Karma Yoga). Classes are not taught in a particular style, and a variety of class types are offered, including Vinyasa/Flow Yoga (including Slow Flow), Power Yoga, Yin Yoga (deeper stretches held for longer periods of time), and workshops centered around a specific theme.

Are walk-ins accepted?

Yes, but it is highly encouraged that you sign up online since space is limited depending on location. If you don't sign up online, please arrive at least 15 minutes before class starts to secure your spot and ensure you complete the required liability waiver if it's your first class (the liability waiver is only needed once per student).

What should I wear?

Wear something comfortable that you would typically wear for a workout; you will get sweaty, so something breathable that absorbs sweat is encouraged. Oh, also…deodorant 😊

What if I signed up but can't make it?

Email Julie at hello@umiyoga.com at least 24 hours in advance of the class time, and a refund will be issued. Classes are non-refundable within 24 hours of the class time and non-transferable under any circumstances. The only other case when refunds are provided is if class is cancelled for any reason (inclement weather for outside classes, illness, etc.)

POLICIES & CODE OF CONDUCT

  • A completed liability waiver is required from each student before taking a class (only needed once per student).
  • If you sign up but are no longer able to join a class, please email hello@umiyoga.com at least 24 hours before the class time to request cancellation, and a refund will be provided. Classes are non-refundable within 24 hours of class time and non-transferable under any circumstances.
  • Inform your instructor of any relevant injuries or conditions prior to class (including current or recent pregnancy).
  • We offer a 'pay what you can' pricing model. The preset price for each class is $15, but students have the option to pay less than this amount during online checkout or in-person.
  • Treat all students with kindness and courtesy, regardless of their level, body type, or background.
  • Choose the posture variations most appropriate for your body and needs.
  • Be mindful of each other's space; do not step on others' mats, and ensure enough space between mats so you won't accidentally hit those next to you (stagger mats for optimal spacing).
  • Do not wear strong perfume or essential oils, as some people may have allergies or sensitivities, and we'll be breathing deeply throughout class.
  • Classes are intended for those 18+ unless otherwise specified in the class name. Students under 18 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
  • Arrive at least 10 minutes before class starts to find a spot and settle in; classes begin promptly on time.
  • Only sign up for classes you can commit to attend in full; arriving late or leaving early disrupts the flow of the class and the experience for your fellow students.
  • Cell phones are not allowed into the practice space, and ensure your phone is on silent mode.
  • Taking photos or videos is not permitted in either online or in-person classes.
  • Disruptive behavior, such as speaking loudly, checking your phone, or eating, is not permitted during class.
  • Be respectful of others and where they are in their yoga journey; in classes with multiple levels, those next to you may choose different variations, and this is exactly how yoga was intended!
  • Maintain an open mind--we will explore philosophical concepts that may be new to you, but in no way are you expected to adopt certain beliefs. The yogic philosophy included is only intended to spark introspection and, in relevant classes, fruitful discussion.
