Self-Realization

Through regular practice of yoga, one can develop on the spiritual path to ultimately reach a state of Self-realization. In this context, Self-realization means remembering our true nature as being one within ourselves (body, mind, and spirit), with each other, and with Source, the Divine, or the Creator (however you choose to view the force of creation). Yoga is not a religion and does not advocate for a specific view of the divine force of creation, but rather, emphasizes that we are all one Self (hence Self-realization), which is also one with and derived from the Divine. The Divine force of creation that led to our existence is within all beings, and this thread of existence binds us together as one across space and time. In this way, our true Self is infinite existence--we were never born and, thus, will never die. This teaches us to treat ourselves and others with equal compassion, kindness, and love as spiritual beings having a human experience.

It’s important to note that it is rare for one to exist in a sustained state of Self-realization, and the goal is to do our best to remind ourselves of our oneness and inherent sacred divinity as often as possible, starting with reminding ourselves of our own and working our way outward to others.
